Solar Netting - PVC-Coated Galvanized Steel Screen

Wire mesh has a wide range of applications found in the agricultural, industrial, transportation, horticulture, and food procuring sectors. It is also used in mines, gardening, decorations and in the case of Spiffy Solar, for outdoor installation protection in the form of architectural fencing.

PVC coating is relatively low in cost, resilient, corrosion-resistant, and has good insulating properties. You can find PVC coated wire mesh in materials such as carbon steel and galvanized steel, that latter of which is our specialty.

Rodent and Bird Netting for Solar Panels

Don’t wait for rooftop critters to settle in comfortably underneath newly installed solar panels. Tackle pests head-on with our Spiffy Solar PVC solar panel wire screen!

As part of our two-piece system, this pest screen for solar panels is the best on the market. We utilized three progressive steps in its creation:

  1. Welding
  2. Hot-dip Galvanizing
  3. Final PVC Coating

This product not only serves as a solar panel squirrel guard but is also able to withstand extreme climates and weather conditions. We have worked diligently to combine just the right mix of strength and weight with workability and transparency to create the best safeguard for your system.

Benefits of PVC Coated Wire Mesh

  • Won’t strip or peel in an unsightly way with wear
  • Lasts years longer than an uncoated wire
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Can withstand intense weather and climates
  • Black in color, to make it less visible. Uncoated screen shines and glints on the roof. Black blends into shadows (under panels)

For use with lower profile installations, our 6-inch screen is the same quality as our 8-inch screen. It is heavily coated including the top and bottom edges. It is not cut down to be smaller. It is recommended for a system installed with approximately 4.5 inches of gap or less. Buy here.

Solar Panel Mesh FAQ

How much solar panel mesh is needed for my system?

Neither the kilowatt size nor the number of panels will reliably tell you how much material will be needed. The best way to determine your needs is to measure the linear perimeter of the system, right on the roof. You can also use the engineering roof layout documents. Uniform, rectangular installations require less material, in contrast to those which are irregular in shape. If there are modules that are separate from each other, this increases the perimeter, increasing the amount of material.

Should I purchase the 6″ or the 8″ solar netting screen?

An eight-inch screen is used for the majority of systems. Our installation technique requires folding at the bottom as well as overlapping a bit of screen onto the edge of the panels. This adds a bit to the necessary screen width. Although it is becoming more and more commonly used, the six-inch screen is primarily limited to “low profile” PV racking. These are systems with a gap between the roof surface and the bottom edge of the panel frame of fewer than 4.5 inches.

Why do you only sell black?

Unobtrusive Black Color–blends into shadows beneath modules. Competitors sell products just like Spiffy Solar, but with black and silver options. While they usually have the black option cost more, Spiffy Solar offers black at the same competitive price.
